Glenn Close stars as Senator Palpatine, I mean, high-stakes litigator Patty Hewes. Her manipulation of the system and of the people around her is most definitely up to Palpatine’s standards. She’s cool, charismatic, and cold-bloodedly ruthless. Patience is a virtue Patty knows all too well and it reminds me of Susan Sarandon’s character Wensicia from Children of Dune.

‘She’ll own you,’ says Count Dooku, I mean, Tom Shayes (Tate Donovan), and PWN you Patty does. She licks her lips, eager to sink her meathooks into Ellen, trying to seduce her to the very alluring dark side. It’s perfectly chilling.

However, though Ellen appears innocent and sweet, she is a course to be reckoned with. ‘Phony’s not my strong suit,’ says Ellen, which makes me think she’ll be a nice counter to the Anakin role. Instead of being easily fooled, Ellen just might be the one to destroy Patty! Ellen is often seen sitting quietly, taking everything in through her bullshit meter. Her observations and quick-mindedness are what I believe will turn her to the dark side and also be the source of her salvation.

Ellen just needs to get rid of that pesky fiancé… Luckily, that’s taken care of for her. She doesn’t need anyone to get in the way of her ambition. Excellent. Now she’ll be free to fall in love with a hot young lawyer on the on the opposite side of the legal war…who is corrupt and in over his head…in need of a woman like Ellen to save him from himself… Well, one can dream, right?
